Twitter ha enormi costi per l’infrastruttura e nessun ritorno economico, comunque gli utenti in costante aumento e i capitali investiti hanno condotto ai recenti accordi con Google e Bing per l’indicizzazione totale dei twit per i due motori di ricerca. Cosa c’è di davvero interessante in questo Twitter? Ci ho messo un anno, ma alla fine l’ho capito.

twitter destruttura l’informazione

l’obbligatoria brevità del messaggio obbliga la rimozione di molte convenzioni sociali, per esempio spesso viene ignorata la gentilezza, viene evitata la formulazione verbosa del pensiero, vengono evitate formulazioni troppo complicate dei pensieri. I pensieri devono essere resi modulari e auto esplicativi (mentre per esempio in italiano tendiamo spesso a concludere un concetto nella frase successiva, questo rallenta la comprensione di chi legge).

twitter permette di comunicare senza un destinatario

il fatto di scrivere messaggi che tutta la nostra lista di amici “potrebbe” leggere, rende i messaggi a volte allusivi, e permette che siano pieni di speranza. Inoltre la formulazione impersonale permette di fare domande “al nostro insieme di amici” piuttosto che ad un amico specifico, il che diventa utile in vari casi:

• flirting
• espressione di pensieri che non hanno un preciso destinatario
• e-learning granulare
• organizzazione di eventi estemporanei

per la composizione dei messaggi a lunghezza limitata twitter è anche adatto alle comunicazioni su reti di dati a consumo

twitter è una porta di accesso per i pensieri della massa

brevità, modularità e destrutturazione se uniti al contesto di pubblicazione dei messaggi su twitter (di solito le piattaforme mobili, cellulari ecc.) spesso producono modalità comunicative introspettive e altamente tematizzate. scrivere un twit è spesso come lanciare un piccolo messaggio nella bottiglia al nostro micro universo di conoscenze (anche potenziali, per chi ama allargare il cerchio delle conoscenze).

twitter e il cazzeggio perenne

pur non avendo la possibilità di tutti i comuni social network di aggiungere annunci pubblicitari (per la stessa costruzione della struttura comunicativa), twiter ha in comune con i social network il veicolare anche molte informazioni personali ed emozionali che non hanno un diretto collegamento con le realtà lavorativa o istutuzionale. Twitter può anche essere associato a una valvola di sfogo estemporanea per cose che non si riesce a comunicare in faccia ai veri destinatari del nostro messaggio, che magari incontriamo tutti i giorni nella vita reale.

I’ve been searching for a to do list software all day long. Finally i found Remember The Milk. It has RSS feeds, Gcalendar and Gmail plugins (as well as twitter plugin). You can send emails that add a new to do and they have some kind of lol-sense of humor (you know, the 2.0 sense of humor). Ah, you can take it off line since it supports google Gears.

Other cool softwares for this week are:

Gmail’s Task plugin (for the moment has less functionalities compared to RememberTheMilk’s plugin, example there’s not an rss feed for your todos but they will improve for sure)

Clockingit (tracks task duration, thanks Stefano)

GrepWin for fast search inside files (with Regex)

PSPad a freeware text editor with cool find and replace in files feature (yes, NP++ is still missing the search and replace inside system directories)

ColorZilla is a Firefox plugin to copy an RGB color code, no more photoshop paste for me!

give an image to TinEye and the search engine tells you where that image (or a similar one) has been used on the web. The TinEye similar image is a reverse search engine for images, is pretty cool and fast is you need an image comparison search engine for your copyright needs and for the moment is free (lets you find unlimited similar images).

TinEys is the perfect image search engine to find image stealing. This website is also very good to find photoshopped versions of original photos, since it can compare even small parts of the original picture inside photo manipulated pics.

The TinEye image search also features browser plugins to skip the image upload step.

Update: also google is developing a new similar image search on google labs.

staying informed with a lot of RSS is important… and having great RSS sources is also very important, so every morning i browse the internet searching for something intersting.

before sending a mass email I always check it with this free tool, so that it won’t be caught by mistake by my recipients’ spam checkers. It gives a spam rate to my outbox folder, if they are too spammy the signal becomes RED and you have to correct something inside your email.

Once a day I check my ranks in the search engine with the google webmasters free tool, and i learn what is working in my website and what is not cool for my readers. It changes everyday so can be pretty though to follow at the beginning, but constant control over the website contents gives the best results.

Read something new every day

I buy books from amazon and always read something new (just a IRL clone of RSS reader anyway). When you get out from work, unplugging your mind from human beings constant contact can be very relaxing.

Staying in contact with new and old people is very important, and to achieve the contact we have something to share (like this page for example). I personally use:
